How to play
The patient evolves. You decide what happens next.
NextStep follows one patient through the day's case. At each of 3-4 moments you answer a single question, what's the next step?, and the patient responds. You have three lives for the whole case.
- 1
Read the case
One patient arrives each day. The status panel shows their live vitals; a clinical development sets up each decision.
- 2
Choose the next step
Every decision offers exactly four plausible options. Pick what you'd actually do next: stabilize, investigate, treat, or decide disposition.
- 3
Watch the patient respond
A correct choice advances the case: vitals change, results return, and the next development appears. A wrong choice costs one life, shows what could have happened, and returns you to the same decision.
- 4
Finish the case
Guide the patient through all 3-4 decisions before your three lives run out. Then review every decision in the debrief.
Lives
You start each daily case with three lives (♥ ♥ ♥). Every incorrect choice costs one, across the entire case, not per question. A wrong option locks once tried, and the feedback explains why it is not the best move without giving the answer away. Lose all three and the scored run ends, but Review Mode opens so the case still teaches.
How you're scored
The score is simple and fully visible, based on your first run of the day. Practice replays never change it.
